Tri-State Manufacturing Economy Ranks Among Best In Nation

Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky earned high marks in an annual manfuacturing report; demonstrating the strength of the manufacturing and logistics industry in the tri-state area.

Conexus Indiana and Ball State Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) release their Manufacturing & Logistics Report card every year; scoring each state in several areas pertaining to the success of manufacturing and logistics. States are graded and compared on the health of manufacturing and logistics industries, the state of human capital, the cost of worker benefits, diversification of the industries, state-level productivity and innovation, expected fiscal liability, the state climate, and climate reach. The categories on the report card were chosen as the most likely to be considered by site selection experts for manufacturing and logistic firms and by the prevailing research on economic growth.

All three states continue to improve in their rankings. Kentucky received “A’s” grade in Manufacturing Industry Health, Logistics Industry Health, and Global Reach. Indiana was given “A’s” in Manufacturing Industry Health, Logistics Industry Health, Tax Climate, and Global Reach. Ohio also ranked well with a “B” in Manufacturing Industry Health, Global Reach, Logistics Industry Healh, and Sector Diversification.
